Hive is a unique two player abstract game with similarities to Chess and Go, but played without a board. Instead, you can play on any surface, and the hex-shaped pieces must simply be grouped together via the rules of the game, i.e. every piece added or moved must be touching an existing piece, forming a constantly shifting mass as each player tries to surround their opponent’s queen, while keeping their own queen out of danger.
